Worked great until the little back wheel went missing. Not sure how, but it’s gone. Called the manufacturer and they are replacing for free since it’s only been a month.
Other than that it actually cleans and mops very well. The larger tires go right overtop of my small area rugs just fine without getting stuck.
Fairly quiet unless it’s emptying itself into the canister. Easy to clean.

I Love the deep cleaning it gives. I had a Roomba prior to the new Shark and there's a Lot of difference. I really like and need the mopping feature and it works very well, but at first I had trouble getting it to mop and couldn't figure out where the water dispenses when it mops. I viewed several videos but none of them showed me this. I had to spend days figuring it out, but I finally got there. Overall, I'm Extremely happy with my Shark and Highly recommend it!

Okay, for light work, the little vac does really well, like areas that are not heavily used, keeps that area nice and swept up, but put it with 2 German Shepards, and me, that thing can’t keep up at all. The dogs let it do its thing and they move out of its way, the vac cannot keep up with the fur nor get it all when it goes through the house every morning before anyone gets up. The bigger problem is we can only schedule one cleaning per robot, and these things are not cheap to have multiple, but we find we have to get under the kitchen/dining room tables because it can’t get there, and it blows a lot of fur in a corner that it can’t get to because of a chair in its way. I also found that it blows fur under the dining room hutch, and china cabinet, more then would be if there wasn’t something blowing extra fur under there, BUT, for the positive side of things, the little power house it is does pick up a lot of fur and dirt and everything else it can get swept up

Was completely new to the robot vacuum world. Went with Shark because the name and thought it was a safe bet and the easy pay off options with no interest make it very appealing.

It's been a game changer. We have dogs, cats, kids and all hardwood and vinyl floors. You have a mess 24/7. This thing goes above and beyond. Picks up almost anything you throw at it. We mainly got this because we couldn't keep up with the pet hair. When we empty the dust bin it looks like a small dog comes out. It works. The floor feels clean. Now it does has some issues. I wish it could suck up more than smaller stuff. It's brush roller gets stuck at times. It would be nice if the roller could go counter clockwise to unstuck itself possibly? It needs improvement on thinking it's going to fall off a cliff lol. The brushes seem to wear off fast. Hopefully I can order replacements? But it's still going strong it runs in my house several times a day so I'm really pushing it's limits.

It came in around $400 and something dollars it's in the mid price point. A little pricey but 6 months to pay it off works for me!

I've never tried the mop feature but it has that too. If you are looking for a mid range robot vacuum id recommend it. I don't think most people would use it like us. Time will tell how long it lasts but I can't complain.

So for context. We are a 2 person, 3 large dog, wears shoes in the house sometimes household. I do not expect guests to remove shoes when they enter and my 3 dogs ridiciously shed. Before I bought this, we had hair dust bunnies in the corners of our many areas every 2/3 days. This has eliminated me having to clean everyday and instead I just vacuum with a standard vacuum on the weekends since it does not do the best on carpet. The mop feature is about the same, it could be better but it does clean away most dirt and grime, but not stuck on messes.

I have had this thing for maybe 6 months now and have found it to be great overall as it does a great job picking up husky hair. I am lazy and hated to have to vacuum every day with a regular vac. This thing takes that away and that is a good thing. The only complaint I have it that the software lets you create and set rooms. It is also supposed to be able to let you vacuum only the selected rooms. It never does this and always does the whole damn house. I called customer service a couple of times and was very disappointed with them. I think they are in the Philippines as I can barely understand what they are saying I guess they could also be in India as they also tend to have high squeaky voices that, even if they were saying the words correctly would make it had to understand them.

When I called them twice about the issue it sounded like they were reading off a script and knew nothing about how their system works. They had me delete the map, of the house, in the app and let it build another map and try again. Well I did this twice. Twice I tell you and nothing. It takes about 6 or 8 runs to build a good map of the area to clean. Then you have to create new rooms and tell it to clean them which it never does.

Tec support is awful but other than the app not really doing anything other than telling it to clean or go to dock the thing runs great.

Overall its a great bot but the thing that is killing me is the mopper. First of all poorly made. Mopper broke, called in, they had to replace the whole unit, and the second unit broke too. I went in and fixed it myself, seems the trouble is the super cheap water pump it uses. Seems to be a third party part which is only a water pump and bought cheaply by shark from another company. It is NOT a vacuum cleaner part. The place I think they buy this pump from is not a vacuum parts company. Just saying cheaply made but expensive in price, this shark. This pump gets gunked up pretty easy and then the water starts to streak and does not go on the floor well. I drilled bigger holes in the pump but it still gets some issues, bad design.

Even if it worked right, its still a bad mop. Just smears dirt around and cleans nothing. I marvel at how dirty my floors look. I am just buying a different unit. Even if the mop worked perfect the mop design is still quite inferior and i want my damn floors clean.

So people with maybe not so much to mop or are just interested in vacuuming, then this unit is excellent, has a lot a nice features and navigates well.

Darn thing vacuums much better than i could, and i do adore that part of it. Thing vacuums great.

So what are my suggestions for the mopper?

Dual spinning mopping pads. Actually scrub the floors. None of this Sonic Mopping bs. The sonic mopper actually breaks a lot. Much more complex than a motor which just needs to spin, but the skark mech uses that poor water pump to shake the plate back and forth. Water flow breaks then the whole thing break. Spinny motorized pads? Those wont break and better design.

Have unit periodically return to base to clean the pads. Stop smearing dirt and actually remove dirt.

Make sure the unit accepts proper mopping fluid, its CRAZY we have all these fancy bot moppers that cant take proper fluid. Sure shark had its own fluid but what if u want to use floor shining fluid or whatever? A proper mopper must accept proper mopping fluid!
Your use of any kind of fluid even sharks will increases chances the pump slows down, but i am pretty sure just plain ol water will too as contaminates will still get into the water(its….running around on dirty floors so yea).
Cmon people, surely you studied mopping issues before designing the unit, yes? This mopper does not address the basic use cases for mopping, such as i need to get the dirt of my floors. How did you think this unit would do that when you designed it? Normally i would not make such a big deal here but look at the price tag for the price you pay you want it to work. Wouldnt be a big deal for a cheap unit but for this thing and its price tag, you need it to do as advertised, but it does not

The more you use it, the better it does. This isn't a deep cleaning device, it does very well maintaining on a daily level for our 2 short hair dogs and 2 long hair cats. Don't plan on replacing your upright all together, you will still need it. Our AV1010AE runs 7 days a week, and has for almost two years now. Decent suction keeps the pet hair under control as long as you keep the filters clean. Clean/replace the filters often, especially in the dust bin. Lots of replacement parts available, more about the Brush roll's later. Runs for about 90 minutes per full clean for 1200 sq ft. Compatible with Alexa if you're into that. Our cat's and dog's have learned to live with and watch out for it. It's tough enough to withstand a startled dog impact when it runs into a sitting dog unexpectedly. The cat's haven't been spotted riding it yet, but have walked across the top without incident. If you have a carpet stair runner this robot will dramatically pause and turn to look back at you before driving over the cliff so blockade effectively. Unit goes into Drunken Stupor mode if asked to clean in the dark. it will take a few steps forward, turn circles, then gives up and starts drunk texting alerts in the app. You will disable these notifications within 3 days as this robot will blow up your phone after making another bad decision and getting hopelessly stuck. Home Childproofing experience recommended but not required, the robot will train you.
Brush Roll Issue: Shark sells the AV1010AE with your choice of either the Multi Surface Brush Roll, or the Self Cleaning Brush Roll. I haven't found any information on the difference between them. My unit came with the multi surface brush roll. All of the replacement parts kits are only available with the self cleaning brush roll. If you have a unit with the multi surface brush roll, you will either have to modify the brush roll access door slightly, or purchase a replacement brush roll door from Shark. The door shipped with the multi surface brush roll unit will not work with a self cleaning brush roll without filing down a wedge shaped plastic tab on the brush roll door. It may have been fixed in later models, but the issue is obvious and easily remedied if the issue still exists. I recommend just getting the self cleaning model and forgoing the issue entirely. The self cleaning roll doesn't require nearly as much cleaning as the multi surface brush roll did and cleans just as well from what I've seen. Well deserved 4 stars from me, even after the newness wore off. Thing hasn't missed a day sine we set it up in July 2021, and would buy again.

Good concept and I got the Shark rather than the iRobot or other brands due to reviews. Not what I hoped.
For pet owners, it's good at cleaning up fur. I have 3 cats and I was vacuuming every day and emptying half a canister of fur. Got this Shark so I could take a break. What it does not excel at is litter. I use natural flushable corn litter and I have thin litter mats that vacuum up nicely with my Bissell. But this robot thing goes over the mat and just leaves a lot behind. On hardwood floor it is much better but doesn't seem to get it all.

The thing likes to repeat clean so it eventually gets up most dirt and fur. It turned itself on in the middle of the night on the first day and I almost boxed it up. Had to do a factory reset to clear the memory since there is no clock setting in the app. The app is basic but user friendly and the schedule function is probably helpful but after that first night I just shut it off before bed. It does get lost if in low light conditions. Sunlight is good enough but you will need to turn on all the lights if cleaning at night.

Overall it is just okay for the price and I love not seeing as much pet hair. Thought about returning it but my other half got rid of the box which also had the plastic docking thing for carpets. I'll keep it and enjoy not vacuuming as much.

UPDATE: 05/27/2022 Bumping up to 4 stars because it makes me happy! Never looking back!

This has become very convenient and my favorite cleaning tool. I may have to run it a couple times a day to get up all the litter but I don't mind at all, and the robot doesn't complain. Saves me soooo much time (and back pain) than traditional vacuuming.

Added comments after using it for a while... Just like my regular vacuum, I know it'll function better if it's maintained regularly so I'm still emptying the dust bin about twice a week.
The robot itself isn't terribly loud. However, it is when emptying so I can't run it while working at my home office. The sensors on the underside need to be cleaned but not too often and I've only had to manually open the "brush door" underneath it twice.

The good: I really wanted to give this little guy 5 stars. Because we have a couple of very vulnerable people in our family I dismissed our former cleaning service when COVID came to town and never started them up again. I purchased this bot from Amazon on sale during the pre-Christmas sales. It replaced a cheaper robot, which failed miserably. This robot may not get every single bit of crumb and hair on its first go-around, but it works very well. The routes it creates are logical, making parallel sweeps that align to the walls. It neatly goes around the legs of furniture, returning accurately to the path it was on before it met the obstacle. It does a reasonably good job each time it is run. I found that by running it daily for a few weeks and then 2 or 3 times per week it kept my floors looking quite nice. (I have no pets or small children. If I did have either one I would probably maintain the daily use.)

The good: The bot has no problem getting up close to the irregular line of our natural stone basalt fireplace. It wiggles along the edge going in and out and cleans this area of dust and such very well. In fact, the bot does better than I did with the vacuum and better than the housekeepers did. It doesn't care how long it takes. Obviously, people-based cleaning involves beings that do care how long this process takes. Same for other irregular surfaces. The bot goes in and out as long as it takes. For our finely crafted mid-century house, this is a really big deal.

The Good: The built in cliff-avoidance works very well. In 4 months the bot has not gone over an edge even once. In our mid-century house there are not only stairs, but also other drop-offs that look really nice but would probably not be allowed with current codes.

The good: This little bot is much quieter than expected. Naturally there is the noise created by the air going through it, but there is very little actual motor noise. Usually when it is working I am working at something else in a nearby room. It makes just enough noise that I can tell where it is, but not enough that it distracts me from what I am doing, and not enough noise to wake those sleeping in the next room.

The good: I did not bother with the app because I have oriental rugs with fringes that must be picked up prior to running the robot. I also choose to put the chairs up out of the way so the dining room floor gets really clean. In bedrooms I do a quick check to be sure there are no socks on the floor, etc. Scheduling therefore makes little sense. However, the bot works very nicely without the app. For those who want no app, this will work beautifully. I find that it was best to use the bot to clean half of our main floor, let it recharge, then clean the other half. This is something that the app would not support. If you have a larger house, or multiple levels, this is a really good thing. I actually have 3 very separate areas that are cleaned by the bot and the app would only be useful for one of them, as it only stores 1 map. The app-less cleaning is done quite logically and the entire floor in each room of each area is cleaned reasonably well. As noted below, small bits may be missed, but with regular use my floors are clean to look at. A fairly significant amount of dust and debris are picked up every time the bot is run.

The bad and the ugly: Corners are a real problem for the bot. Once in a while you need to get your finger into a wet paper towel to clean out the accumulating guck in the corners. However, the same is true when I vacuum with a conventional vacuum. It was also true when I had maid service clean the floors monthly (only then it was their fingers in the paper towel, rather than mine.) Also there is sometimes a bit of stuff left. For instance, after cookie making with small children, if the bot is put in the kitchen and the doors closed so it can clean up the flour on the floor, there may be a place or two where a bit of flour remains. Run the bot again and it will get that last bit, or just wipe it up. I see this as a minor issue, but a real one.

The really bad and ugly: Unfortunately, Shark has dozens of models that are very similar with different model numbers. Even more unfortunately, your model number reflects the place where you purchased the bot, not the bot itself. Your model number is virtually useless in trying to find the right replacement parts. Third party parts are often ill-fitting or poorly made and the shark site is of no help in locating your actual model from the model on the bottom of the machine. However, the online chat person or the call-back support are quite helpful and very fast.

More bad and ugly: The model number on the box of the one we purchased was different from the model number on the bot and also different from the model number on the enclosed documentation. The instructions in the manual did not match actual parts on the bot. Even the instructions on the bot did not match the configuration of the bot. For instance, there is a figure on the bot suggesting that a circular filter be cleaned regularly. Problem? Filter does not exist, and no place it could fit. If one were to attempt putting a filter into the area adjacent to the figure it would cover the window where you are supposed to be able to see the level of the dirt in the collector. (Not that big a deal, though, because the plastic "window" is so darkly tinted that nothing can be seen through it anyway.) Using the mis-matched manual requires a bit of flexibility. If, for instance, you know that you need to pinch something and pull, the fact that the tabs mentioned do not exist, you can find something else to grab and pull. This has worked fairly well, though not without a bit of annoyance on my part. It would be nice if there was a bit of labeling to indicate just where something should be grabbed to dis-assemble for cleaning or replacing filters. Putting the actual part number on the replaceable parts would also be a really great idea.

More bad and ugly: This is probably a petty gripe. However, for those of us who must use the bot without the app, a key part of this process is to turn the machine off while moving it, then on again to begin cleaning or to send the bot to its port. It would be a really nice convenience if the on/off switch were put on the top where it would be visible and easily reached rather than recessed on the side. Turning off the moving bot is a bit of a chore. If it were recessed on the top it would be quite easy to use a cane or broomstick to knock the rocker switch one way or the other. The instruction manual clearly states that one should not pick up the bot until after it is turned off, but turning it off first requires a bit of a circus act, following the bot, locating the switch and pushing it without triggering the thing to take off in another direction (the camera sees you and that alters the path).

Overall, I would recommend this product for a person who is willing to live with its flaws. I am happy with the cleanliness of my floors, it takes less than 4 minutes for me to ready the dining room for cleaning (12 chairs, 2 oriental carpets to move) and less than a minute to check other rooms for cords, dropped items, etc. Then it takes the bot about 30 to 45 minutes for each of the separate areas. During its cleaning time I almost never need to do anything related to the cleaning process. I do clean the dust bin every time I clean, a process that takes only seconds. About once a month I clean the dust trap on the bot itself. That process can take anywhere from 2 minutes to 5 minutes depending on what is there. If the bot picks up a straw or paper clip, more stuff gets stuck to that obstruction and the lint can pile up. At any rate, I spend considerably less time on this process than I would spend cleaning with a vacuum (which has its own quirks) and the bot is actually more thorough than I would be, spending about 2 to 3 times as long in actual cleaning than I would. Time spent cleaning is important. The bot moves slowly enough to give the suction time to be effective, also slowly enough that when it bumps into furniture legs it does no damage. Also, in 4 months it has paid for itself, compared to the amount the housekeeping service would have charged. Of course, it does not dust. Too bad. My house always looks presentable, I spend less than an hour in actual floor maintenance time but the floors always have that "just cleaned" look.

I boxed this to return then did more searching for information on how best to use it. I'm going to keep it for now and just know I'll need to clean the filters more often than I thought. The self emptying feature is really a game changer for me.

After using this daily for 2 weeks I'm going to stay with my original 4 stars. Our downstairs is basically an open room, 1200' with living areas designated by furniture and area rugs. Mapping isn't a big concern for me as long as it gets it all done. I continue to be unimpressed with the suction, I always have to have it on max, which even then doesn't seem to be as good as the commercials claim. I do empty the dust cup of pet hair every few days, and so far I haven't had anything in the dust cup on the vac itself which concerned me. Today I opened the Pre-Motor Filter - which says to clean once a month - and found that's where ALL the dust was. I was very surprised and don't know if that's good or bad. I'm used to hair, dust and anything else on the floor all going into one container. I cleaned and washed the filters and will see if that makes a difference. This is more complicated than my other robots as there are several filters to maintain.
My feelings after a couple of weeks - I'm not as happy as I thought I'd be - but the self-emptying feature is so great I can overlook some disappointments. No way could I go 30 days but a good cleaning once a week or so is so much better than daily I won't complain.
    **********
I was very excited when my new robot arrived this morning. I've had iroomba which I loved, Neato which is a love/hate affair because I so dislike having to empty and clean the bin and roller at least once during a cycle. I thought this Self Cleaning Shark was my answer. I've only used it one day so will change my rating if I change my mind.

The plus: Even though it has bristles, pet hair did not tangle.
It did a great job of picking up pet hair, that others have problems with.
    LOVE that self-cleaning feature!
It had no trouble getting into and out of tight spaces
    Price was reasonable
The Cons: Had trouble connecting to app; robot said connected, iPhone said connected, app said not. Finally just let
it run and it figured out the connection on its own.
Emptied the dust bin on the dock and there was hair, but no dust, no dirt - just pet hair. Medium suction.
Emptied the dust bin on the vac itself and it held some but no where near the amount of dirt and dust the
Neato picks up. In fact am running the Neato now and it is picking up the dust the Shark didn't.

This Shark answered the problems I had with the Neato but the suction wasn't near as good. I'll try it on max tomorrow and see how it does. Guess it depends on what's most important to you in a robot vac.
