I ordered two of these, one for upstairs and one for downstairs. Both products function excellently. We have mostly hard floors with some large area rugs downstairs, so the mopping feature gets a much better workout there, but upstairs has a couple bathrooms and bedrooms, so it has a mix, with mostly carpet.
I am pleased with the performance of both of the vacuum/mop units. My only real gripes would be that it could be a little smarter about working its way under furniture it can't get out from (fixed by marking it on the map, but it seems kind of silly to have to go and mark it) and it would be nice if there was a low water or almost full dirty tank warning, instead of the empty/full notification you get. Not the end of the world, but it would make maintenance easier.
The vacuum does a good job picking up the crumbs, dirt, and hair (we have three dogs, a cat, and two sons) and it feels like the mop actually does something. We had a combo unit previously, and it had a pad that sort of vibrated. When you watched it going around, you could see where the floor was wet and where it wasn't. With this unit, the wet trails overlap ever so slightly.
I can't speak to its durability, but these have been the best solution for our house. If you are so inclined, they can do multiple maps for different floors, but I didn't want to have to remember to move them around. The whole idea is to have light cleaning done for you that you don't have to do much with, so getting two units seemed like the best solution.
Have been running this vac daily +/- 800sqft for about six months with no issues.
Previously I have owned multiple Roomba models and one Shark robo vac. So far this is my favorite. The cat hates it about the same as my previous robo vacs.
These guys actually talk to you and listen
It turns out I have 4 dogs, the furthest fact picks up.
Can be quite thick. I don't think it's the base stations fall to camp back at all every time. I don't even care. I love this vacuum. Again, the support in this company is exceptional. Nowadays that really mean says something
Down sides: sometimes gets itself trapped in a forest of chair legs like in a dining room, and will snooze until freed. Most of the time it can work itself out, but not always. Doesn't always notice soft obstacles like socks and the like, so you have to tidy up after yourself or else it may vacuum up the sock and stop, complaining of indigestion.
Also love that I'm not getting pictures of my home uploaded to some cloud somewhere for anyone to see what's in my house. Lidar is so much better.
Only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is the app is not as user friendly as irobots. Like three different ways to do everything so confusing, but has all the features I want and works well so would be 4.5 if I could do that.
The setup was straight forward, although the instructions are a bit vague on the details. The initial mapping picked up only four rooms and the laser did a great job. In order to add the additional rooms, I picked it up and started it from another location. This is a mistake, so don't do it. I called the customer support and told them I have a total of 11 rooms on the first floor and it was having trouble finding all of them. He said to run it in the cleaning mode, Clean Full, and don't interrupt it let it start and return to the base, and it will map all of the rooms. It took about three of these runs to add all of the rooms, but the map, once completed, was very accurate, much, much more so than any of the Roombas I have had. After I partitioned and labeled all of the rooms, I used the Merge function to create two large areas, a Living Area and as Master Bedroom Suite, as well as the Full area. Because of the large area of the Full area, it sometimes runs out of battery before finishing. After it recharges, it goes out and finishes.
As far as performance, my wife loves it. It does a much better job of cleaning than any of the previous Roombas. One more thought: it costs half as much as the Roomba J9+'s and is far superior.
Oh, yes, the Customer Support is very good and was very patient helping me get this up and running, even after multiple calls.
Has a simple operation u sing the map. Just do one room or one spot. You can eliminate areas you don't want touched.
Pretty amazing for the price.
It is a little noisier than I had hoped but I have scheduled it to run in the main part of the house during the night. It is not noticeable while sleeping. My bedrooms are set to be cleaned during the day when I am working. It definitely works well to keep the dust levels and pet hair at bay. I have long hair that sheds, so I have to clean the rollers once per week but it is very easy to do. Less than 1 minute to clean them. Overall I am very happy with this product.
We have recently been experiencing terrible problems with our Q5 Max+ vacuum.
It will not auto empty the dustbin despite an unobstructed ability to do so. After cleaning, the device tries to auto-empty with what sounds like strong suction for 30 seconds but nothing empties. An error occurs to check an otherwise unobstructed suction path to the dust bag because the unit insists that it is blocked. What’s even worse is that now our vac will not clean at all because it does not detect the vac dustbin and filter. I changed the filter so it is brand new, cleaned it all then clicked back the dustbin in place on the vac but it will not register that there’s a dustbin and filter in the device. I purchased this item from Amazon on June 28, 2024.
We initially LOVED this vacuum because it was so intelligent, adjustable, and user friendly. We thought that we had finally found a winner but it is just a matter of time and use before things went awry. We just didn’t think it would happen so soon after our purchase. We have a three level home and we’re seriously considering buying one or two more of your brand so each level has one. A scintilla of customer service such as replying to my email would go a long way to keep this customer. The auto empty feature worked for about 3 months before it wouldn’t empty and I’ve been doing it myself….what I didn’t want to do and why I purchased this specific model. A new unit should be sent to me and I will return the defective one.
I also like the way the Q5 Max+ navigates around the perimeter of each room first and then goes back and cleans the center of the rooms. While the vacuum is cleaning it also shows its progress in the app. The Q5 Max+ also handles area rugs very well and navigates over the rug edges without getting caught or trying to lift the rug.
I would highly recommend the purchase of the Q5 Max+.
One of my favorite features is the customizable mapping within the app. I can create and name rooms, which makes cleaning specific areas a breeze. Since it's connected to Google Home, I can simply ask Google to clean the kitchen after cooking, and it will clean just that area before heading back to the dock.
The zone cleaning feature is another huge plus. I use it after brushing my two dogs, as it quickly takes care of the hair in that specific area.
After a week of use, I have zero complaints. If you're looking for a powerful, smart, and efficient robot vacuum, the Roborock Q5 Max+ is an excellent choice!
Again, I can't speak to the longevity. That aforementioned Eufy would have had a similar review at first as well, so I'm crossing my fingers this has better quality. Other than that, the only thing I've seen that would be nice, in the app, is the ability to schedule the Auto Empty. You can schedule it to clean, you can set a DND so it WONT auto empty during certain times, but it also won't just auto empty at the end of that DND. If I could set it to quietly clean at night (which I can), but auto empty in the morning, that would be ideal. But again, I haven't had this very long, so maybe some tweaking of the settings could achieve this. I do know there are auto empty sensitivity settings that might achieve that goal.
Easy to clean -- bought back up supplies, etc seemed reasonable. I did not want to add unnecessarily to the dump. I take some need nose pliers -- pull out most wadded carpet fiber --- spray bug dust in the bag --- incase of fleas --- no problems --- when it shows wear and tear (so far not at all) I have supplies. Love that bag collector has a face - cover to seal up when it and out. Rollers come out easily and clean up well... After the research this was the ONE to BUY. Happy and I am picky.
Went on vaction 3+ weeks --- WFI connection wasn't working. For me the simple fix was to initiate start up --- used the QR code on Bot and make sure every thing is on same band. Not difficult --- happened only once in months and months. And my WIFI provider goes up and down,,,
This saves me time --- the price is well worth it. Established brand. Highest Recommendation!! Looked for sale price bu no Promo deals.
But actually I like it so much I'm going to say what I like about it. It's smart, won't fall down any stairs, maps your house, powers over all sorts of things, you can set no go zones, it knows when it's on carpet or wood, control it from anywhere, empties itself, has lidar, you can do multiple floor maps, different strength suction selections, The list goes on and on I love it.
I just hope it doesn't die for some reason. If it lasts a while I will have one for life. Saves you so much time and your house is always clean. Should have gotten one years ago. Let alone it goes under the bed that hasn't been vacuumed in years.
Only downside is you have to have a 2.4 GHz wifi signal to connect it to wifi. But it doesn't actually need the internet to work you can just push the start button and it will scan and go
Some things to be aware of:
- Roborock vacuums only works with 2.4ghz not 5ghz WiFi networks, so if your home WiFi is 5ghz, you won’t be able to use it. Check your WiFi in advance.
- the instructions need you to screw in 6 screws as part of the assembly, but you’ll notice there’s no bag with screws. That’s because the screws are already halfway screwed in into the back part itself. So half the work is done for you. Just a heads up so you don’t go searching for a bag of screws in your box like I did - you won’t find one!

I recommend checking the onboard waste bin after it docks and empties it. The unit picked up so much pet hair ours was packed inside. I removed it, and check it routinely, just to ensure it isn't getting clogged up.
The vacuum does a fantastic job maneuvering around furniture, just make sure all electric cords are secured out of the way. We close off areas we don't want the unit to go into (there is probably an easy way to mark those automatically).
We have ours scheduled on certain days at a specific time. It announces that it's starting, when it's emptying the dust bin, and charging.
The remote control app is easily navigable. I like that it is intelligent and changes patterns each run so it isn't wearing a pattern into the carpet. We have had no issues with our vacuum. It is worth the investment.
The self-empty dock is incredibly convenient, requiring attention only every few weeks, while the smart navigation ensures it cleans efficiently without getting stuck. The app is easy to use, allowing for customizable schedules, no-go zones, and precise room mapping. Add in the long battery life, and it’s an effortless way to keep your home spotless. I highly recommend it!
Best Features:
LiDAR Navigation : I was shocked as how well this works. You can literally watch a live feed in the app of the mapping process. It maps the rooms faster than you'd imagine. As soon as it enters a room the map expands to cover almost the entire area, intelligently identifying things it can go under versus solid objects. It also does not just map one time during setup. Is constantly updates and augments the map every time it runs. It also does not just rely on the bump detector to find obstacles. The LiDAR sees it first, and the robot slows down to gently nudge it to better define its position. The paths the robot takes are extremely deliberate and precise. It is amazing to watch it drive around corners and obstacles when heading to a known area. I also like how it will vacuum the perimeter of a room first before doing the center. This ensures that any debris flung into the center of the room by the edge brush is cleaned.
Suction: Seems to be very powerful. This cleans a high pile rug we have just as well as our push vacuum. It is also cool that you can set it to automatically adjust suction power based on the surface it detects it is driving on. You can also just set a fixed suction level regardless of surface if you want.
Noise: It is a vacuum, so it is a bit noisy but actually significantly quieter than my Roomba. Since it has an auto empty feature, you can and should just run it when no one is home. That way, it essentially never makes any noise.
Performance: This robot is pretty speedy. My downstairs is about 900sqft and it can do a full clean in around 90 minutes. The floor is spotless when it finishes.
Auto-Emptying: This is really cool. It monitors the dustbin capacity and will determine if it can finish cleaning before emptying or if it needs to make a pit-stop. The vacuum within the dock is very powerful and does a surprisingly good job of completely emptying the dustbin. It is a huge benefit to have it run when no one is home and not worry that it will dock with a full bin waiting to be emptied.
Software: Now THIS is where Roborock shines compared to others. You have the ability to edit rooms, add invisible walls, no go zones, etc. You can tell it to vacuum one room, a single area, really anything you can think of. While not necessary, you can watch the robots path live and see exactly where it has cleaned. Its pretty fun to watch lol. Scheduling is seamless and easy, monitoring the life of things like filters and brushes is simple, and the paths taken by the robot are deliberate and precise. The app is very well designed, which I feel brands like Eufy and Roomba don't do as well.
Cons:
This is a relatively large vacuum, so it sometimes cannot fit or struggles to fit between smaller chair and/or table legs such as a nightstand.
Since it mainly relies on LiDAR to determine where to clean, it can sometimes get confused. For example, under most couches there is a layer of fabric that covers the bottom. Over time, this fabric can sag. While the vacuum could easily drive under this sagging fabric, the LiDAR sees it as a solid obstacle and avoids it. You can remedy this by adding some staples to the underside of the couch where the fabric sags.
*Hot Take*: This is a Chinese manufactured product headquartered in Beijing, so the data is collects is likely transmitted to China. I honestly don't really care about this, but for people who are concerned with data privacy might want to go with a US based brand like iRobot (Roomba) or Shark.
Overall, I am extremely impressed with this vacuum and feel like it delivers more performance than a vacuum of this price range is expected to.
This vacuum is being used in a 600 sq ft area with laminate floors and area rugs, this room has never looked better!
I am very happy with this purchase and would highly recommend.
I decided to go with a Shark model I found on a Black Friday deal from the giant blue store with the W. Because of the Shark name I thought I had found my vacuum. I was sorely disappointed. It wouldn’t map my house which is under 500 sq feet. The vacuum would get stuck and randomly return to the charging dock and the app was not user friendly Sigh, time to return it.
So I researched other models and reviews and came across the Roborock Q5+. This is a five star product. From the moment I opened the box to the minor assembly needed the vacuum has been a joy , less one small hiccup. Upon opening the box there is a initial instruction card diagraming what is in the box and how the items are packed, to the simple instructions on how to assemble the base and finally the QR code to install the app. After charging overnight I was ready to start my vacuum journey. So I set it to quick mapping and sat back. Here is where the hiccup occurred. It mapped my living room but would not go into other rooms. Frustrated thinking it would be like the Shark I returned it to the charging dock. So instead of quick mapping I set it to clean instead. This worked. As it cleaned it mapped all the rooms in my house easily. On top of that the map on the app showed the vacuuming pattern the vacuum created as it cleaned. After about 30 minutes it completed cleaning and returned to the docked and emptied itself. I was surprised because I used to let my Deebot clean each room for 30 minutes for each room. Unsure it had cleaned the whole house in just 30 minutes I did a walk thru and my floors were grit and dog hair free.
Plus’s are the vacuum announces it’s self nicely which I like. It lets you know that is starting to clean, charging and returning the dock. The app is easy to install and use with options for custom settings. It integratesd easily with my Alexa system. I haven’t used with Alexa voice options yet but the set up was easy. It was also easy to connect it with my home internet system. It also is not as loud as my old vacuum except for when it self empties but that is less than 30 seconds so I can live with that. What I thought would be a Con for the product was it wasn’t bag less but upon consideration I think I’m going to like the bag because of the amount of dog dander that made the daily cleaning of my old vacuum necessary, with the bag I won’t have that fine dust and dander floating about in the air. I was also able to purchase an accessories kit from Amazon for just 22 dollars which included 4 vacuum bags, 6 edge brush replacements, 4 hepa filters, a two main brush replacements.
So on the whole I would give this product 5 stars on all features and performance. Sorry this is so long but in reading reviews I had to read several myself to get enough information to help me decide on a product so I hope I covered everything.
THIS THING IS A GAME CHANGER!
Our house layout doesn't really work for one of these.. so we thought. We have multiple steps going into different rooms, so we thought we would only be able to use it for one or two rooms.. however, all we have to do is pick it up, move it to the area that we want cleaned and click the map and boom! It does a great job!
We have hardwood floors with a few rugs and it tackles this with no issue!
I didn't know how it would do with the dog hair, but sometimes we get busy with life and it's nice to press a button on your phone app and boom! The living/kitchen/dining rooms are cleaned by the time I am pulling in the driveway from work!
It will help out with when we have a new born baby.
My only complaint... that I didn't buy the sweeper/mop version. I think that would be a game changer and would love to see the difference it makes! May eventually have to upgrade!
The vacuum effectively creates precise vacuum lines, which are particularly beneficial for individuals who maintain a meticulous cleaning routine. Although my house is approximately 1550 square feet, it includes stairs, and I did not install any obstacles. The vacuum’s sensors ensure stability, preventing it from falling down the stairs. Additionally, it has a self-emptying feature that operates seamlessly.
The vacuum operates relatively quietly, comparable to other robot vacuums in terms of noise level. It successfully removed dirt from the carpet and fuzzies left by my dog after he ingested his toy. Notably, it encountered a minor incident when it ran over my charger, becoming caught. However, it did not cause any damage to the charger or the vacuum itself. The charger was easily removed without any further issues.
Overall, the robot vacuum has performed exceptionally well. Its quiet operation, effective cleaning capabilities, and user-friendly features make it a valuable addition to any household. I highly recommend this product and am grateful for the positive experience it has provided.
Very happy with this Roborock Q5 Max Vacuum.
Pros:
-Sits on home WiFi
-App is easy to use and clear
-Rollers on bottom truly fluff carpet
-Has adjustable suction between hard floors and carpet/rugs
-In visible walls and keep out zones are simple
-Charge lasts a good long time
-Movement pattern is predictable and logical
-Empties automatically and bag in charging station is pretty large
-It has LIDR!!! For mapping your home and it is pretty darn accurate after several runs.
Cons:
-When it straddles a thick rug and low floor, the gap below prevent some pick-up
-Gets confused under chairs a bit
I would recommend this unit. In fact, if it broke tomorrow, I would buy another.
The self-empty dock is a lifesaver. Not having to manually empty the vacuum after every use is a huge time-saver, and it holds enough debris that I only need to deal with it every few weeks. The system works flawlessly, and the dock is sleek and doesn’t take up too much space.
The navigation is smart and precise, with the vacuum easily maneuvering around furniture and avoiding obstacles. The app integration is excellent too—I can customize cleaning schedules, map specific rooms, and even set no-go zones. The battery life is impressive, easily handling multiple rooms in a single charge.
If you’re looking for a powerful, hassle-free cleaning solution, the Roborock Q5 Max+ is worth every penny. Highly recommend it for anyone wanting a cleaner home with minimal effort!
The standout feature for me is the LiDAR navigation. It’s incredibly precise, effortlessly avoiding objects and never running into anything. My 900 sq. ft. home gets cleaned in just 28 minutes, which is both efficient and impressive.
One downside worth mentioning is that it’s not a bagless disposal system, and replacement bags can get pricey. However, this is a minor inconvenience given its reliability—no errors, no issues, just flawless performance.
I’ve been using it twice a day, and so far, it’s exceeded my expectations. I’ll provide an update as I spend more time with it, but for now, I couldn’t be happier.
If you’re on the fence about robot vacuums or want to hear more about my experience, tune in to my weekly podcast, Horror Cinema Obsession.
Once connected and fully charged, I tried it and really like it. It was so much better than my old ones from another manufacture. It mapped my entire house and started cleaning. It avoided obstacles like wires, slippers, etc. It cleaned the downstairs of ~2000 ft2, and the battery still has 60% left. It then went to its base, empties the dirt, and started recharging.
The house is very clean and the vacuum left no missed spots/areas.
Highly recommenced for great customer service, smart navigation technology, and effective cleaning results.
** to the manufacturer I suggest you place a warning at the very top of the box about the very bottom of the box. lol**
Max mapped my 1000sqft condo then swept it in under an hour, even underneath the bed, over throw rugs, into dark rooms. I was surprised at how smart this vac is. My tile floors are clean. Grout lines too. I’m always tracking in sand, grit and grass.. The noise level is low and doesn’t bother me. Max will be running while I’m at work. I’m very happy with this purchase. He vacuums better than I sweep, picks up hairs, sand, gel caps, dust, grass. Long lasting battery. Only 39% used to map and vac. The app is awesome as well. Money well spent! Merry Christmas To Me!!
This product literally works out of the box and it operates on its own unless I want to direct it or send it home early to self charge or empty its trash bag into the staging bin; all through my iphone or directly through activation and return buttons displayed on the unit itself.
I am buying at least one more as a family gift for Christmas.
Well done. Thank You.
I can't say enough good things about this vacuum - the Lidar imaging is impressive and the cleaning pattern is smart and efficient. I have used this for a week now and so far have no complaints at all.
Pros:
easy setup - I clicked start on the app and in about 15min it drove around and mapped my whole main floor with multiple rooms (~1000 ft2). It then returned to the dock and I could review the map on my app. I made a couple no-go zones and then started a clean to test it out. It cleaned the entire floor in about 45 min without any issues. Was able to make it over a 1/2" threshold from tile to wood in the entry way.
Mapping: the lidar vision system and bump sensors work great together to accurately maneuver around every day obstacles like chairs and other items that get left in different places. Once so far we needed to pick it up after it tried to suck up a plant we left on the ground. I placed it in a different location and it took about 3 seconds to reorientate and resume cleaning. On the app I could see it perfectly mapped where it was set down a couple feet away.
This was a no brainer for me as it is nice to wake up to clean floors every morning. We have a dog, so this significantly reduces the need to try and sweep every day!
